Every book needs an editor. Be sure yours finds the right one.
I am a book editor specializing in trade fiction and nonfiction for publishing companies and independent authors. Whether you plan to self-publish or are preparing to submit your manuscript to a publisher, agent, or writing contest, I can work with you at every stage to help you take your book from where it is to where you want it to be.
The services I provide range from manuscript evaluation to proofreading. I’m happy to help you distinguish between different kinds of editing services and decide what your book needs.
I am located in Kingston, Canada, but my clients are scattered throughout Canada and abroad.
Why Cat?
I’m a book editor. I don’t work on marketing materials or websites or academic theses (though I have done so, and I can refer you to someone who does if that’s what your looking for); I specialize in books. I have edited fiction and nonfiction of all stripes, from murder mysteries to memoirs, from a guide to working from home to a mixed martial arts encyclopedia, and I can help you take your book to the next level.
I have over ten years’ experience editing in-house and freelance, working with a variety of house styles and style guides. I am a certified copyeditor through Editors Canada with an honours degree from Queen’s University in English and Classics as well as a graduate certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing from Centennial College. Managing and production editors and authors return to me because I provide stress-free, thorough editing services, without erasing the author’s voice, and I hold deadlines to be sacrosanct — read some of what my clients have to say here. I have been a part of the publishing process from beginning to end and am happy to help you with your book at any stage.
